For anyone looking for a good and cheap travel agency, I recommend Kangsan. I found them by doing a search on here. They were able to find a ticket to Thailand for under 600,000 with two days notice, and that was during high season (most were charging twice as much). I also just got back from a round trip to N.A. for under 900,000.

I've found them to be good - not spectacular, but they try hard, have been consistant, and have agents with an adequate knowledge of English.

Kangsan do provide good service and have good english speakers...

However...

They don't give you the best price..
basically they seem to be alligned with a few certain airlines which seem to be KAL, asiana, Northwestern and JAL

They are always pushing JAL tickets which usually are well-priced anyway...

They quoted me a price for a trip to australia in June which I thought was too expensive and insisted I couldn't find anything cheaper so I should buy it before it was too late....i felt they were pushing the hard-sell.

So I went looking elsewhere at www.whypaymore.co.kr which had tickets about 250 000 won cheaper on an airline they wouldn't sell me tickets to(Singapore)...

So when i told them I had found a much cheaper price they basically told me i was lying and that isn't the correct price. I decided to end our dealings there and then...

Kangsan are good and i will use them again in the future but i will certainly be shopping around as well...

I really really need to get to tokyo for lunar new years and the ticket on whypaymore from Pusan looks great but how on earth do i go about booking it?

I had a great price for it on expedia but I keep getting a "purchase error" T_T

I'd have to agree Kangsan are good, maybe not the cheapest aside from internet but very good and prompt service and good communication. And they'll tell you to use other means ie; internet if it's cheaper.
I've been dealing with Lottie and she has been very good.

But as for prices it is hit and miss.

They got me a last-minute ticket to Vancouver for the holidays with a stayover in Tokyo on the return leg for New Year's Eve (yes, JAL).

In fact, they always find what I have wanted. Are nice, English speaking, hard working.

I do wish they would find better deals - sometimes the prices aren't great, sometimes they are.

But overall FOUR STARS out of five.

Kangsan is usually good. Lottie has been a real dummie though. Stay away from her.

Soho Travel is my new discovery though. http://www.sohotravel.co.kr/ Mr. Jeong is really good, has good English, and keeps an eye on fares for you. He reserved me seats to Hanoi, but is still keeping his eyes open for something cheaper, which apparently just came up.

Kangsan is great. I've been using them for a while. As for them being pricey, well, sometimes... but at least they tell you how to get a cheaper ticket. I wanted tix around SE Asia in a few places, and they actually told me they couldn't get the cheapest ones (nice and honest) but said how I could. That was cool.

I used Kangsan a few times when I first arrived in Korea, but found them to be both inattentive and on the pricier side. I don't care if you're buying a bus ticket or an around-the-world-ticket, the customer shouldn't have to chase their agent around for information after they've paid for a ticket.

One of the reasons they're still in business is that most waygooks don't bother to shop around, and they're working in a very small pond.

I have also found them to be inattentive and just not that great of a deal. So they speak English, get a Korean friend to help you book with a better agency.

Yeah, I was happy about not having to deal with language barriers.

I bought tickets through them in December. I was in a pinch and I had to use an agent, rather than booking tickets through Daum. The prices were the same. However, after I came back I realized that I could've bought my tickets at nearly half the price through www.interpark.co.kr In the future I'm going to try Korean sites before I go to an agent. That's not to disparage Kangsan's service, though.
