I need to fly to Vancouver in a couple of weeks. Any experiences with doing it standby? Any savings to be had by just going to the airport and buying a ticket? Is it worth the hassel and uncertainty?

No advantage to standby from here and NO cost savings buying at the airport.

In fact, it has been my experience that you pay more at the airport than if you stopped at an agent or bought it on-line.

www.whypaymore.co.kr has pretty good prices to vancouver right now.
I got tickets to Van leaving on the long weekend and returning a couple weeks later for only 1.070 million tax included.

One way is running about 600k until the end of the month.

You can call them at: 02-318-8585. When you get an answer, ASK for English service. If you don't get an English speaker right away, wait 10 minutes and try again. They have about 40 people on the phone lines at any given time.

To pick up your tickets, they are located 2 buildings away from the Canadian Embassy (by Seoul city hall). They accept cash, bank transfer or credit cards.
