Sure.
That headline is likely a minor modification of an AP wire title, which is likely a minor modification of some guy in the white house press corps' summary of a news conference, or a press release.
You can pick out individual examples of headlines you think are liberal-biased all you want. Big journalism sides with big capitalism, and I'd like to see you leave anecdotal evidence and prove me wrong. If you'd really like, I can point out hundreds of headlines that I think display nearly fascist views in the New York Times. |
facist??????
oh my
I reduce my previous estimation of your time free from the indoctrination camps to less than 2 years....possibly three..... |

If you read the article, it's pretty straightforward that his speech is tailored to this specific end.
His ratings are faltering. That's a matter of public record. When you are unpopular, you go places where you will be warmly received and say popular things.
Bush has nothing to do with these policies. The Republican party is cutting its losses and reminding people that a lot of people have jobs.
You are mistaking a person for a party. After Bush is out, he will still be associated with the Republican party. That is what is making "him" care about polls. The Republicans need to cut their losses and make themselves look better.
I'm sorry, but you're just stupid if you really don't see that.
I'm not criticizing the Republicans' approach, I'm describing it. It is a perfectly reasonable thing to do, and I agree with the New York Times on this, although I still think they are a shitty newspaper for other reasons. |

let me know if you think the New York Times headline quoted in the OP is editorializing.......
??? |
1) Only in the sense that any language use is "editorializing." The instruction manual for you DVD player editorializes. I explained above that that yes, the Republican party, via Bush, is clearly shifting public focus to the economy from foreign policy. I do not criticize that, but it is what they are doing. And it takes about ten seconds of following the news to see that.
2) Your three question marks at the end of every post serves mostly to make you look ridiculous. Keep doing it if you will, but it makes it more difficult to take you seriously. |

You're still saying bad things about a hypothetical person you've constructed.
I'm not going to start insulting you back.
Now please, respond to my assessment of the situation. |

you give me commands....
Now please, respond to my assessment of the situation.

I suggest you stop commanding people (which is tough for leftists, I know)

meaning you cannot come up with any legitimate response. He's actually trying to make you think.
Someone on dave's has a a great quote from Mahfouz in their sig. It is something along the lines of, "You can tell a person is clever by his answer but you can tell how intelligent a person is by his questions." |

Do you sense the slight difference?

I guess I've been operating under the mistaken impression that the voting booth is the only poll that really matters. |

Hell yeah! Sincinnatislink's problem is that he cares too much about rubbish like facts and logic. Nya-huh, sincinnatislink, don't even go there! sundubuman knows the score, he knows how it is and he doesn't need your book learning or your concern for accuracy. Intelligent argument? It's for suckers! Get with the program, loser!
And sundubuman, your debating skills make you a true asset to your cause. You've opened my eyes, that's for sure. Those so-called """Jornalists""" can go to hell. |

I just read this whole thread while enjoying my strong french roast coffee.
Enjoyable and entertaining -- like Ali vs Tyson.
I've nothing to add of substance to this thread.
It's all been said.
Except for who'll be on the mat in the fifth.
Blue, white or RED.

Yes, those "facist jornalists" sure are a problem.
Why can't some English teachers spell?
And the author of the bad spelling is taking someone else to task for having too much education. Methinks SDBM could use a bit of schooling himself. |
