I was under the impression that 'Spring break' is not a vacation for teachers, and really, it's a joke, isn't it? The students write their exams mid-December, muck around doing nothing for a couple of weeks, go on 'Winter break' for a month, go to school for a week mucking around doing nothing some more, and then take a two-week vacation?! The time efficiency is ridiculously absurd.

Either way, I'm going to be working overtime in March so I'm going to use the time to prepare all my lessons in advance and get organised.

It is a joke. This is my last sermester here, so apart from tweaking my existing lesson plans a bit, which won't take long, I am going to be doing SFA for 11 days.

I am getting from Feb 13th until March 5th off of work. I work at an elementary school. I just finished a 3 week vacation last Thursday, as well. I only have to teach until this Wednesday, then I have to come in on Thursday, Friday and Monday to prepare for after vacation.

Nice aj, very nice. I guess you are not working in Seoul. If you are then you have the best principal ever. I am in Seoul at an elementary school and this is my schedule for the past 6 weeks and the next few.

Dec. 26th to Jan. 5th...school English camp.
Jan. 8th to 26th...district camp.
Jan. 29th to 31...sit at school.
Feb. 1st/2nd...sit at school.
Feb. 5th to 14th...just found out that my classes are cancelled...sh#t.
Feb. 15th/16...2 "free" days but I am not allowed to leave the country.
Feb. 20th to 27th...school English camp.
28th off as a "favour" and then back to work...I hope.

Where o' where are these schools with the great holiday plans?

I took a sick day today for the Superbowl. I just finished a 3 week camp this past Friday. During spring break I may have a camp, but the principle has not decided yet. If not I guess I will be at school sitting around. Thank goodness for the sick days (use them or lose them).

Actually, I work in Gangnam. Gangnam is not part of the SMOE for English teachers.

i'm the same as you, ilovebdt. i'll probably wind up killing myself. or if the music teacher is here, i may ask for access to the piano. though i'll tire of that easily as well.

oh, let's just be honest: i'll just be checking dave's much more often.

anyhow, i totally feel your pain. it's my pain, too

I don't really understand this...how can the school dictate what you do in your free time? Are they going to call immigration and block you from leaving at the airport? Fire you? If you wanted to go to Japan for a couple of days, what is the big deal? As long as you come back for the next workday it seems to me it is completely out of line.

I'm sitting at school after three weeks off. I agreed to teach special classes because I thought I'd be done by seven. Nope. Even though they're going to be sitting around "studying" this afternoon, I still can't teach them until four. That means I don't get done until nine. What a waste of time.

Came to school to find out I have 2 weeks of classes.

Thanks for letting me know...

So far,it's just been listening to the women in the staff room endlessly saying how cold it is and the Chinese teacher is endlessly burping.

Good times.....................not.

I am back at school for the first time since Dec. 22. I worked a camp in January but it wasn't with the school so I got double pay. We just moved into a new school building so we are spending the week moving in. This requires me to sit here and do nothing. I get the last 2 weeks of Feb off before school again. Just found out that I am now part of the disciple staff. So now they want me to beat the hell out of the students. We get our own room titled "Dminstration Staff Room". I guess I am now a Dminstator. Brand new signs all over the school, almost all of them wrong (at least in English).

I have to be at school six days in February, so far as I know. Suffice to say I have a lot of time to kill.
