| So I am finding myself day dreaming while I am teaching, it usually goes a little something like this: I am suddenly back home at my favorite watering hole and I am laughing and having a good time and I look down to see my favorite ale in an ice frosted pint which is broken up by, "teacher, teacher, why are you drooling!" I love my job, apartment, shool, teachers, area, students however, how can I get a decent beer???!!!! Is there a way to ship beer to Korea? My favorite beer back home in California is Sierra Nevada. Does Costco here sell beers other then Beck, Corona, Budweiser or MGD? Does anyone know any stores in all of Korea that sell good imported beer? |

One word : homebrew.
Carrefour used to carry some of the belgian ales I love, but I somehow doubt homever has kept the tradition (and prices) |

Here I was enjoying my morning and you had to go and say something like that. I grew up in California and spent my formative drinking years there. Oh, I'd wish they'd hurry up and invent the time machine.
As for Costco, I've seen San Miguel and Sapporo on occasion. Also, some kind of variety box. But for an American company, Costco sadly has no American smaller-batched beers to speak of.

Oh man, I'm actually thinking of ordering some Rogue Ale and bringing it back. I've probably only got enough dough for 12 bottles, but it's worth it! |

Max Prime.

I saw Max Prime in a movie last night...
There are other alternatives. Seoul has a few microbreweries. Castle Praha in Hongdae is swiftly becoming the hangout for me and my friends. Also if you don't mind paying through the christ, Wabar has a good selection of foreign beers. I recommend Daedonggang, which I'm starting to think has magic Juche medicinal powers, as the last two times I've had one I started off with a cold and felt healthy the next morning. |

| It's so frustrating that I can't get Prime Max here in Hongseong! I'm limited to Hite, Cass and OB in terms of Korean beers in every shop/small supermarket. So, homebrew and the occasional weekend trip to Seoul are my only realistic options. |

of course you can get some pretty tasty beer at the big rock brewery in gangnam, which just so happens to be the location of the daves get-together this saturday night! check out the thread below for more details...
