Anyone know of a good rental/lift ticket discount shop around yongpyong resrt? I know at High1 ski area (kongwon land) there is a place with cheap rentals and a 33% discount on lift tix, for example. |

Hey,
Pointski, in Hwenggye (the town just outside of Yongpyoung) hooked me up with ski, pole and boot rentals for 20,000 a day last week. Older equipment, but good condition. I rented for four days.
They also sell discounted lift tickets. I got full day pass including gondola for 42,900. They have a variety of deals...bigger discounts if you buy the night before.

The managers don't speak English, but some of the staff do.
If you go during the week, business is slow all over Hwenggye, and you might be able to work yourself a deal.
If you are a competent skier, I'd take the gondola and ski the "Rainbow" runs (other than the long 5.4 km ski-out.)
During the week, lift lines were short every day except Friday last week.
Have a blast.
