After looking at gang ah ji's link I came across this link on the same site:

I don't think it's interesting to post these links and then say, "Look how bad the soldiers are." That's not why I'm posting another link.

I think it's better to look at these videos and debate the effect such actions have on the eventual quelling or fueling of the insurgency. Do they bring stability to iraq or not? And personally, I think they do nothing but inflame the insurgency.

It's a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. As an occupation force, you are required to stop looters, but the actions necessary to stop the looters just inflame the population requiring a protracted occupation. Bumping traffic and crushing cars seem like a very short sighted solution to an immediate problem. Why are soldiers handing out justice to civilians in that particular manner? Under what authority can a soldier crush a car for the looting of wood? Making an arrest, I can understand, but crushing the car and then moving on. Where is the due legal process? Could the iraqis and the soldiers even communicate with each other? And if due legal process is not possible, why not? (Too few boots on the ground?) How is it perceived by the local population?
