I thought a thread about "how things used to be" might prove interesting.
Today, I was talking with a gentleman that is pushing 60. He told me that in his youth, the Han River would freeze over and people could ice skate on it. Not only that, but in recent times people could even drive on it.
Sheesh, talk baout Global Warming.
Ok, anyone have any others? |

| It used to be nearly impossible for Koreans to travel outside the country, even if they had enough money. Also, there was a large list of forbidden books that would get you jailtime if you were caught with them. |

I remember reading somewhere that if the captain of a ship sailed far enough that he lost sight of Korean soil, he would be executed for something along the lines of treason.
I think the same thing applies today, except it applies to Korean restaurants instead of Korean soil.  |
