OK,
This is the place to come for info and I need some.
Anyone know a cheap yeogwan in Incheon? Have to catch an early morning international flight and want to be near the airport. Nearer than Suwon that is....
Any suggestions much appreciated.
Ciao,

I think there are a couple near Gyesan station, if you're interested. Go out exit 3, and walk along for a block, there should be one or two on your left - I've never been in them myself, so I can't vouch for their quality, but it's easy to get to the airport from Gyesan. There's an airport bus stop on the other side of the road, may be exit 4 or 5, I forget, but you see the sign when you come up. Anyway, bus number 302 should take you to the airport. 2,300 won as I recall, and about 40 min from Gyesan to the airport. |

40 min? In that case you might as well stay in a yeogwan near KCAT, only about 20 min. more and you can check your bags and clear immigration from there as well. |

KCAT= Korea City Air Terminal. It's located in Gangnam-gu, sharing the same block as the Inter-continental hotels and the Coex Mall. You can get an express shuttle bus to Kimpo and/or Inchon airports from there, cheaper than the Limo-buses that service the hotels-airport routes. There is also a luggage check-in and Immigration service, so you can pretty much 'pre-board' there and save yourself some line-up hassle, lugging around your baggage, and you can also get a discount on the airport tax by doing so. There are hotels and yogwans within walking distance (one that springs to mind is Blue Hawaii on Yeong-dong dae-ro next to the temple and across the street from the Coex mall). It depends on traffic and whether your bus stops at Kimpo first or not, but if memory serves the fastest bus can get you to the airport in 60 minutes. There aren't really any closer yogwans in Inchon unless you find something actually on Young-jung do (the island that the airport is on) as there is only one major access to the airport/island (I don't think you want to take the ferry and a local bus with all your bags).

EDIT: It looks like I'm wrong about the travel time, KCAT website says 80-90 min. to Inchon Int'l. However, the time you save 'pre-boarding' should more than make up for it, and I do remember beating the scheduled time more than once (believe it or not).

I value comfort & convenience over budget & I quite like that new "Airport Town" (sorry I forget the Korean name) 10 minutes from the airport for early morning flights out. Sky Hotel & an affiliate offer free shuttles to & from the airport, nice new rooms, & there are pleasant bars & other creature comforts near at hand. 70-80 thousand depending on the day of the week.
Another alternative is arriving at the airport the evening before your flight, stowing your big luggage in lockers? secure storage? (not sure whats on offer, but something), then spending the night in the sauna on the lower level. Under $10, & very accommodating if youre comfortable with those establishments. |

can you just turn up at the airport at night, call these hotels and they'll come to pick you up? |

Yep, at least until about 8 or 9pm. (The hotel info desk in front of arrivals will arrange it for you too.)
After the shuttle shuts down you can still take a taxi. DONT take a regular taxi -- they'll quote stupid prices like 50000 won & be quite pushy. Just a few meters in front of those are the "deluxe" taxis which stick to the meter & will run about 12000. |

i missed my flight to manila once and stayed at a yoegwan in airport town 10 mins from the airport. a bit pricey though ... 70,000 won, but free shuttle service to the airport. |
