I love blues piano. Got Marcia Ball going on computer right now. Who're your influences?

Your piece is nice. Sound is a bit muddy, but I think that's mostly just the video itself. You may want to think about what you can do to make it crisper, though, if it's not just the video. It's a very solid little piece; I'd look forward to hearing more, with more variations that build off the base.

I agree it is a bit muddy, the camera mic is only part of the problem. I think I need to learn to change the bass line a bit. Really I am new to the piano, this piece is just a slight variation off of a track in instructional CD by martan mann.

I would love to be able to play some variations off the base rhtyhm, but I just don't know how to find the notes i "hear". I think I need to memorize the modes and scales better.. I will try to play my little musical thought, then hit one wrong note and the thought is gone. Being able to improv is sort of a dream of mine.

I wish I knew of more piano players. Keith Jarrett is talented. For some contemporary guitar blues I like Keb Mo'. (guitar and vocalist). Also like Chris Thomas King, Rufus Thomas Walkin the Dog, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee, Ray Charles and Norah Jones, old schoolers like Count Basie, and more towards country: Willie Nelson, Wilco, Jerry Jeff Walker, EmmyLou Harris, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. But you probably know of most of them.

I wouldn't mind hearing of some good blues pianists if anyone has some favorites to share.

Hi there,

Bit of shameless self-promotion, but just to say that the piano player in my band is really, really good.
We're called The 40 Days, and you can check out some of his/our playing at www.myspace.com/thefortydays
We play live all over Seoul and other cities in Korea. PM me if you'd like to find out some more, or come and check us out.
Cheers

That's good accurate fingering. I understand you're a beginner so it is a little robotic and you did mention that it needs a few flourishes for it to really take off. Don't be scared to improvise within a few short scales.

No offence intended here dude but the videos on the site are all pretty bad, distorted, some are way to loud drowing out the others (the drummer mainly). Maybe it was the camera or something?
