O lord.........I'll be paying for this tomorrow.....................

Well, I don't have any REAL point to this, expet a drunken monolouge. I finished my winter classes yesteday, in which case, I am very proud of my students. They kikced major ass. But, tonight is when I recieved some recognition for my efforts. I was not really asking for it, but it is nice to know that somone appreciates what you do.

Dispite some of my bad experiences in Korea, there are always those good ones that make up for it. Tonight was one of them.

I was asked what I wanted for dinner..............anything but raw fish. So, it was Galbi Sal. Yeah, I had never heard of it before, but it does exist......and it was great! Me, and five of the Korean teachers out whooping it up.

So, 9 bottles of soju later, we end up at this hof called "Campfire", or something like that (mainly because the main attraction is that they have a campfire in the middle of the hoff). A few other teachers from another elementary school show up, and the party starts. It seems there are about 20 different conversations among the 10 of us. I am being praised for my work, but being told what I can do better...............in which case, that rocks. I love it when I can get some feedback from my counterpart. Pitchers of beer are poured and finished....people are smoking and joking..........life is good.

From there.....yep, you vets guessed it.........Naribong. I tell ya.........once you get passed the barriers, Koreans do open up to you. Singing, dancing (I was reluctant, but when they say it is "korean style"......well, you just go with the flow). More beer, more songs.......more dancing.

I admit, this is one of the better nights in Korea I have had in awhile. My counterpart said he understands my frustration(s)..........living in an apartment with the loudest neighbors, barking dogs EVERYWHERE..........it was as if the masks came of on part of the korean teachers. The question of me resigning was even brought up, in a positive way.........

I'll savor this night.

Newbies in bad hogwans. Hang in there. There is life at the end of the tunnlel. Unless it is so bad, that you can't stand to breath the same air as your coworkers, stick it out. Life does get better with the public school system.....................especially when you least expect it.

I'm drunk.

All hail Jinro Soju.

Cheers.

Sounds cool. I'm interested in hearing more about this Korean style dancing that you were reluctant to try, though. Do you have pix?

Sounds good, but did you get laid? I guess that would have been a good topper for the evening.

Anyway, Noraebangs can be really fun. Personally, I just have to be in the mood for it. I'm definitely not as infatuated with them as the locals, but with the right crowd at the right time, they're a blast.

Keep up the good work.

I used to avoid going out after work with my coworkers becasue they would get so drunk and kind weird. One guy literally pissed himself one night. But it will be fun do get away with them one last time next week since the end of the term is comming up. Nore bbang with a bunch of old drunk dudes!
