Great to hear. Maybe you could start a Taiwan thread for us?
Otherwise, good luck in Island China. |

Keep us posted! Korean girls aren't the only one that are hot. Taiwan girls are quite the eye candy as well, as are most Asians.
How did you ship your stuff over? Did you have much to worry about?
Oh yea, where in Taiwan and how's the pollution there?
Taiwan could be fun. Wonder what the difference in monthly pay and living expenses are.

I'm flying to Taipei tomorrow (Thursday) for the next four days. I'll be back in Seoul on Monday.
Rapier, where are you in Taipei? Maybe I can meet up with you and check out the bars, clubs, and everything else.. I'm thinking of a hostel.. not sure which.. maybe "Amigo Hostel" but could end up just about anywhere.. where are you staying? |

My advice, buy an umbrella. The thirteen months I was in Taiwan were the wettest and most humid I have ever experienced. I didn't sweat - I gravied it was so hot. Good luck and stay off the scooters. |

good luck rapier, and yes do indeed keep us updated. I'm thinking of shoving off there for my next little teaching thingamidgoo, if i so desire to do it again.
Hey, as a bonus, instead of worrying about an invasion by a megalomaniacal dictator who may or may not have nuclear weapons, you can now ruminate on the fact that there's probably over 100 chinese missiles pointed at your little island and an invasion force just waiting for the cue...
sweet dreams |

In Carrefour in Taiwan, they have Kimchi in big round tubs.
I ate it like candy.
Corn on pizza? NO! Only Koreans are that retarded. What makes them even more retarded is believing that in the west, we too put corn on our pizza.

The Chinese "Bushibins" owners (hokwons) will work you to death it seems. They want their money's worth. Most schools have co-teaching. More structure lessons it seems when compared to korea. But, I never heard of Taiwan school owners screwing over teachers like korean schools owners do. Not that is doesn't happen in Taiwan, but it sure seems that screwing over the teacher is a past time in korea. Housing is usually shared and the apartments are LARGE when compared to korea. Scooters all over, crowded, humid and rain. Strange but true; of all the Asian countries, koreans spend the most on learning a language, send their children to English speaking countries and yet they, koreans speak English the least. Go figure.
You'll like Taiwan 100% better than korea. It just takes getting adjusted.
Pay is about the same. The Taiwan dollar does not jump around as much as the korean Won! Not nearly! It's been about the same rate for years!
Food is great and cheap. Depends on what you like. Meeting people? Women? Men? Just like anyplace else; it all depends on YOUR personality. Come across like a moron and expect to be treated as such. Watch the traffic! Not like korea. Cars stop for pedestrians! Busses and taxi drivers are not idiots in Taiwan. But so many scooters!! And the "Beatle girls." You'll find out! This "gum" is sold all over Taiwan. Nasty stuff! |

I live in the USA, in a very corn-oriented area, and we don't even put corn on our pizza. But hey, it's not bad. |
