Does anyone know of evening or weekend classes in the Anyang area? Language hagwon, university program, YWCA, Language club etc.??

There's gotta be something, right?

I haven't heard of anything in this area. Some time ago someone mentioned that the university in Ansan would do a beginner class if there was enough interest, but I never heard a follow up about that. I'm doing a language exchange with a friend. Most of the people I know in this area who are studying Korean are either going into Seoul or doing language exchanges with people they know. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Good luck!

And let us know if you do find anything, because you can't possibly be the only person in Anyang who is looking for a class.

dudes... i found awesomeness while walking home from a party...

there's a class near beomgye station that meets twice a week and is FREE!

trouble is, all the details are in korean. i post them here for you anyway.

it's at 동안 여성 회관 - dongan (this particular area of anyang) woman's community centre. it's a one-minute walk from NC dept store.

there apparently are a few fellers there too. however, i don't think there are any native english speakers...

you can go to dw.ayct.net or phone 031.389.5780-3

ROBT.

The teacher there is a student at my hagwon, and she says the class is conducted in English. Maybe she's not the only teacher though.

Just had a friend check. Classes start at 11 in the morning. Too bad since I work 8:30-4:30. Oh well.

I know it's dragging up a real old thread here but does anybody know if these classes are still on and if you've tried them what do you think?

Failing that anybody know any other classes that have sprung up in Anyang (specifically round Beomgye) in the meantime?

Cheers

I was never able to find this place, but there's a link to a map at the above Web site:

Ok for anyone who's interested. There is no mention of the class on their website, but my girlfriend just called them and they are doing classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Beginners 10 - 12 and intermediates 1 - 3.

I'm going to check it out tomorrow. I expect it will be full of Filipino, Vietnamese and Chinese housewives and it's anybody's guess as to what kind of levels they will be catering for but I will report back tomorrow in case anybody else is considering going.

As for finding the place it's fairly easy. It's in the oddish looking complex of buildings between Beomgye station and Homeplus. If you're standing outside homeplus facing away from it then the place is just to the left of the apartments right in front of you. Hopefully this map makes it clearer Smile

So there are no evening or weekend classes? That's too bad because it would have been very convenient.

Hey,
I live in Anyang too, and work the same hours. I found this post and I am going to check it out tomorrow, I am pretty sure they are still going on but not positive. I remember reading about it in a blog recently and then I found this post:

There is a class that just started this week at a church called Onnuri English Ministry. They do a 9 week course for all levels, but the biggest group is beginners. It's church run, but it's not "churchy" if you're not into that, don't worry.

There are lots of students in my class from Anyang, and I think the commute would be about 35 mins? The class is in Yongsan-gu.

Anyway, it's $21 for the books and $15 for snacks and there are about 50 people there every saturday from 11-1pm. This saturday (the 25th) there is no class, but the following saturday it's on...

Take line 4 to Inchon Station, then transfer to Seobinggo. At Seobinggo exit toward the apartment buildings (away from the main road) and you will see a large church to the right. Cut through the apartment buildings, and from the main church courtyard go into the right hand building, 3rd floor. If you're lost just ask someone.

Anyway, it's a good way to meet lots of different people from all over the place.

Here's the link http://www.onnurienglish.org/about/directions_seobinggo.shtml
