What Up All:
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years etc. I haven't been on in a while. I hope all is going good.
I am thinking about purchasing a dog over here but I am not sure if I can bring him/her back to the US upon the conclusion of my time here in SK. Does anyone know how easy/difficult it is to bring a dog purchased over here back to the U. S.?
I really would like to buy a dog. But if I cannot bring him/her back with me I will just suffice with admiring others' pets with longing eyes and the occasional cuddle time at Bau House in Hongdae |

Young Day,
Check US regs as I brought my dog with me Stateside in '03 so things may have changed. Check this site: http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ for starters.
We had to have, if I recall correctly, the same requirements as coming into Korea (rabies vacc). However, instead of getting the "certificate of health" from a Korean government agency, we had to bring our dog an hour earlier (than usual) for her to be inspected by some official(s).
No hassles, really.

What he said. Our dog has gone both ways. Its easy. THe airline regs are more of a pain than the customs ones. Pug-nosed dogs are really restricted in teh times of year that htey can fly for example. |

No problem at all. I went to a vet who falsified injection records and then printed a bunch of documents and gave me phone numbers to vouch for me and back up his claims verbally if necessary.
That's what I call common courtesy and vets in the west have a thing or 2 to learn about that before charging exhorbitant fees. |

Yes, I forgot about that....since you are looking to get a dog AND plan on bringing her Stateside you may want to be safe and not get a short-snout(ed) <is that a word?> canine. There is a list (usually) on the airline's website that you intend on using.
For example: READ THIS
Also, I didn't finish my sentence in the first post...the "certificate of health" (from Korea to America) was issued at the airport.
