I'm a little late with my reply here but I would say Seoul is one of the more polluted cities I've been in and very crowded but what can you expect from a highly populated city?

I've had a weird throat and cough for about a week now from the change in the air (I'm formerly from the cleanly country of Canada) it's the same thing I went through in China as well.

Once you get used to it all (pollution and crowds) it isn't so bad.

I was sitting up on the hill near the Sheraton Walkerhill today. It was a clear blue day, thankfully, but the yellow smog still hang over the grey city, and the river's a caramel colour.

ha ha it's sooooo gross and uninspiring

No wonder they've got posters all over the city showing the plans they've got for riverside improvements. I think I'll come back in ten years when they've finished all the construction work and improvements. Wink

i really don't understand this bitching about Seoul's air. Come on people, it isn't that bad. For a city of 10 million people, its pretty normal. As Tiger Beer said, its similar to NYC. I'd throw in LA as well. I've been in Boston on days that make Seoul look clean.

I think the only cities where you'd find cleaner air in Asia are Singapore and various ones in Japan. Elsewhere is no cleaner or dirtier than Seoul.

But yeah, if you haven't spent extensive time in a large city, you'll probably think the air is horrible. If you have, I don't think you'll find it any worse than elsewhere.
