My computer seems to have hit the crapper, I prefer a laptop that is 1 year old or so at most 2, but if the price is right I'd consider a desktop.

Alternatively, can anyone suggest a place in Daegu where I could buy one for new reasonably priced with an English operating system?

Gyodong Market is dirt cheap. Cheaper than Yongsan, IMO.

yes, and that's without even considering the time, and cost of getting to seoul and back.

This is great news! Now I don't have to rush my ass off trying to navigate yongsan for the first time! Thanks a lot.

Anyone know how their deals are on laptops?

Ok, this is going to sound kind of stupid, but can anyone direct me how to get there from Daegu Station? To get to the computer section obviously.

Also, if anyone does have a computer in the area, let me know still, I won't be heading out there until this weekend and may not buy right away. I will post if I do, otherwise feel free to post here or send a pm.

From Daegu station, go under the main street via the underpass in front of Lotte Dept. store.
Walk up the main shopping street (the street with relatively no cars allowed, and tons of vendors). keep walking all the way up to the next main road where Hanil Theater and XnMilano are.

Once you reach that main street, turn left and walk until you reach the big silver building (Migliore).
The street that goes down between Migliore and Paris Baguette is the main artery into the computer aea of Gyo Dong.

Also, did you check the BUY/SELL board on this site?

If standing with your back to Daegu Station, go down the stairs to cross under the street to the other side. Take the left stairs up and once at the top, continue walking straight towards downtown.

From here you can go two ways.
1) Take your next left into Gyodong Market and walk straight past the black market vendors, camping gear, cameras, etc...go right at the next intersection and walk for 2-3 minutes and you'll start seeing computer stores on either side.

2) Take your second left, which should be onto a road with some light traffic. Walk straight past Dong-A Dept Store and on the next block you'll start to see computer vendors.

My way is longer, but it's easier to navigate.

You won't find it unless it is an illegal copy, probably.

Try http://www.pronetsoft.co.kr/ and read [url=http://www.eslcafe.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=51]THIS{/url] to figure out which version you should buy. Are you going to go for a Vista system or stick with XP? Keep in mind that Vista will still be buggy, is very invasive of your privacy, and XP Pro will still be supported for several more years.
