Why women fall for 'Mr Average'

Women shunned high-flyers for men with average jobs
High-flying men are not as attractive to women looking for love as those with an average job, scientists say.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the University of Central Lancashire research found the 186 female students asked preferred good-looking men.

But within that group, those without top careers were deemed the most suitable, the Personal and Individual Differences journal reported.

The team said women seemed to feel high-flyers would not be good fathers.

That's in keeping with studies that show women seem to toggle between what they want when fertile and their safe days. When they're most likely to get pregnant, women want the knuckle dragging he-man who can screw 'em in half and squirt 'em up with their superior baby batter. When not fertile, they tend to prefer a male who won't eat the new born but will nurture it.

True. Cake and eat it.
This is why many a mournful long-time loyal boyfriend has been left asking why she risked a 5 yr relationship for a night of passion with He-man. "It just happened". And why He-man is left wondering why she leaves him for a secure long term relationship with mr nice guy. "Why do they stay with dorks?".etc.

Women want he-man to be the genetic father, but want mr.dependable nurterer to raise them.

it does explain why research found 1 in 6 children to be illegitimate, unbeknownst to their father.

if you're both he-man and nurterer, then they just get confused. You have to be one or the other in their heads, but can't win either way.

High-flyers are too busy having sexual trysts on their yachts in the ocean to be concerned about caring for kids.

Those same women going for the average guys have already been tagged and ragged by the high flyers and realize that they have become nothing more than excess luxuries. The average sap in his thirties is happy to pick up a stunner, including her baggage and illegitimate children.

Of course women prefer that convenience!

Well, if I were a woman, I would rather be married to a guy like Bill Gates who seems pretty smart, hard-working, has a cool few billion dollars in the bank, rather than some guy who looks extremely hot and doesn't do it, but you can also be hot and "average" in terms of your behaviour.
So I would interpret average not necessarily in terms of looks. You don't need to be average in looks. Girls need more than a handsome stud.
It is better to get a handsome guy who will be there or an average dude who won't ditch junior and say "that ain't my kid".

Do you interpret average from this article to mean he doesn't look good to her? I think it has to do with the brash, playboy type versus those not like that. I know I've felt when I had friends who were playing around, but it is their life. I prefered hearing from my friends when they treated the girls all right.
