|
|
being a technophobe, i stupidly had my lshiney new laptop up & running for first few weeks without firewall had AVG, but this did not prevent the inevitable enslaught of pop-ups & having my hompage reset to protection.warning.com against my will.
have now installed spybot & windows defender & have got 2 evil trojans locked safely in my vault. am running regular updates & have immunized myself.
i'm not sure this is entirely sufficient & fear i could still be vulnerable.
can anyone advise what additional steps i should take? |

i'd recommend spysweeper and zonealarm as your firewall
been using both for 3 years now and have had nothing take me down
i find anti-viruses to be resource hogs and tend to screw things up more often that fixing them |

Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite is by far the best overall product. It is not expensive, sets up automatically without any technology knowledge needed and is anti-virus, anti spyware and the top rated firewall all in one.
I run it and NEVER have any problems.
Google it and buy it online, no problem.

Use an OS related to the one hackers use and you don't have to worry about this shit.
They're getting easier to use.

Or if you feel like dropping the dough, get something more expensive, commercial, but prettier:

Windows will eventually stop mattering. |
