my wife is due on march 4th, but it could happen any day now. she's korean. i'm american. we're having a daughter. is it true that we have to bring the baby to the u.s. embassy to get her registered or whatever within 30 days of her being born? how does that usually work with the korean custom of being kept in a bubble for the first month? what kind of papers will i need to bring? what else do i need to do? thanks! |

Since the mother is KOREAN the baby is also Korean and you do not need to worry about the 30 day limit. Register the foreign birth of your child at the embassy at your convenience. The Korean birth registration will have to be done at the GU office.
If both parents are foreign then you have to get the baby registered with their home country, a passport issued and then registered at immigration within 30 days (like we did last summer). |
