So the new school year will start eventually and I was wondering how everyone is planning for the new year?
Do you have any suggestion for a new teacher who doesn't know exactly what to do?

Why not? It'll save you racking your brains for ideas.

I like the Let's Talk series by Leo Jones. It has listening and speaking exercises in it which you can adapt for your students.

For Middle School I suggest you look at book 1 and don't forget to buy the tapes or CDs which go with it.

I use Go For It for my older elementary/middle school students and they're really good. of course, I teach at a hagwon so it's quite different from your situation. However, they do have a lot of good topics/grammar points that you could adapt for your classes.

No, I was suggesting the Let's Talk 1 was the most appropriate one for your level. However, you are the best person to judge which book 1, 2 or 3 would be most appropriate for your students.

I searched these on another website and I like the topics that they have.
but I looked on the Kyobo website and I cannot find the exact same ones.
Could you tell me the price by any chance?
I would like to order them to help me with future lesson planning, but the school will not order for me until I provide a lot of the book information for them.
Should I get the teacher manual as well?

I got mine at Bandi and Lunis, I don't remember seeing them at Kyobo
Teachers Manual is ok, it has the transcripts and answer key.
Teachers Manual is 21,000
Students Book 10-12,000 I can't remember exactly
Cassettes were 6-8,000 again I can't remember exactly

That's a good link - thanks for that. It's gotta be a good help to many of us middle school teachers.

thu, I just wanted to add some advice. I don't teach middle school but I know several teachers who do and the problem is that the curriculum for each school is all different. This is because there is no national curriculum that is the same for all middle schools unlike in elementary school where the teachers all have the same books to teach from.

I learned this from a friend but if you are smart you will begin the year by keeping in contact with another middle school teacher and that way you can both develop and establish a curriculum which you can work on together. This will save you hours of grief! I'm not sure why but the support for middle school seems to be non-existent in this country. BoL!
