Um, no. Just time spent in the same room together. As I sit here typing this we've gone over two hours now. That would be a record save staff 'workshop' retreats.

Three hours. I *wish* it hadn't all been in English... because if it were in Korean, no one would have expected me to try to keep up... and it was a "motivational" meeting for the foreign teachers because our hagwon wasn't getting enough new students. You can guess how much of what was said was actually useful.

I managed to get out of all mine. Occasionally they ask me to drop in for 5 minutes to show "unity"-then I can go back to my desk.

"I'm sorry, but A) I'm busy, B) the meeting is always in Korean, and C) it usually doesn't pertain to me anyway. Could you do me a favour and let me know if anything important does come up, though? Thanks." Then I go back to reading a book.

3.35pm and they're still going at it for the second day in a row. I just pretended I got a call on my handphone so I could sneak out for a smoke.

Oh crap - Monday afternoon we had a two-hour meeting. Teusday afternoon we had one that was almost as long. This morning we had a meeting that was at least two hours; I lost track of time. And now everyone's sitting down for another bloody meeting. Thank goodness I have my own desk and computer. The teachers who are based in the vocational staff room have to come over and sit around a table. If this afternoon's meeting is two hours that will bring us up to around eight for the week!

It's mostly biatching over schedules and CA classes, and this morning they chose a teachers' representative.
