I'm all set, with my cheapo, but pretty good made in Italy bought at Costco coffee maker, Lamborgine/Longines or whatever it is. And a big bag of espresso coffee beans from Costco. But, everywhere I've looked so far (Costco, Lotte, etc.) I have not seen for sale an electric coffee grinder, period, or particularly one that would get the beans ground to espresso fineness. Thanks. |

I second the other posters.
Emart
Homeplus
Starbucks
Smaller local coffee shops sometimes have them. |

If all else fails just buy one of those little compact blenders - mine works fine for beans. It's called a mini-mixer, so the salesperson may be able to to help you find it. |

Thanks. You guys must be up in Seoul because Homeplus, Emart in my city down south doesn't have coffee bean grinders. I hear you on the compact blender, I'll bet those are pretty cheap, it'd do for the moment. Thanks again, everyone. |

Even in Seoul it's incredibly difficult to find one. E-mart and Homeplus only carry hand grinders here. I've seen them on occassion in Starbucks at a very very high price.
give Gmarket a try...I saw a pretty nice espresso machine on there for 85,000 the other day. |

ruffie is right. get a blender.
I bought a blender for 40,000 a few years ago. It crushes ice. It grinds coffee beans. it grinds grains. It even ground duct tape last week. (do not ask me how it got in with my barley, but green flecked barley goes in the trash, not in the cooking pot)
do not waste yourmoney on a coffee grinder, when a blender will grind beans and more.
Diet drink: low fat milk (or juice) ice, and some fruit. Blend it, and drink it. Filling and tasty.
Chop carrots, add a chopped apple, some water or OJ and ice, and another smoothie.
Tofu, Milk, ice some fruit...
Oh, forgot this thread is about coffee grinders, not smoothies... |

How does that concoction taste? Ice, coffee beans, grains and duct tape...mmmm. I suppose it would depend on which grain you use. |

I've never seen any resonably priced coffee grinders in Korea. Even the Youngsan electronics market doesn't sell them. I saw only one and it was at Lotte Department store for 99,000 won. I don't remember the brand, but it was some German or Italian brand.
If you choose to grind beans with a blender, make sure you get a high powered one. I tried doing it with a small hand-held one and could smell the engine starting to burn. These machines aren't built to chop up dry foods. |

Yes, high-powered 'compact blender' and not a handheld, cheap, crappy-motored job. Since actual coffee grinders made in Italy are a hundred bucks, spend a little to get a quality 'compact blender'. Thanks.

Don't get a blender!! Not for grinding coffee anyway. A blender cuts. It doesn't grind. The end result will be many little pieces of unground coffee bean.
You need a burr grinder. I use a little hand cranker thing. I'm on the look out for a good electrical burr grinder myself. Hard to find at a reasonable price. But Beaver may be right about the Starbucks machine. I think it is a burr grinder. About 70,000 won. I haven't seen any burr grinder cheaper in any department store. |
