|
|
When I was looking for info on getting a modded 360, I couldn't find any here, so I thought I'd write up on what I paid in case anyone else is looking to buy.
The total cost was 634,000 broken down like this;
xbox premium kit (with HDD etc) 320K
Mod chip + installation 50K
3 extra wireless controllers (standard is 1) 144K (48,000 each)
8 copied games on disk 120K (8 x 15,000 each)
Very hard to describe the place where I got it, but I have bought 5 original xboxes from this guy in the past, so usually I just call him and he delivers it to me free of harge (I live in Daejeon, so it saves me 40 bucks on KTX tickets)
I'm extremely happy with the whole set-up, especially the wireless controllers that work through walls etc. Smackdown with 4 players is a lot of fun, even when mashing buttons.
My question is concerning 360 torrents sites.
If I download a game, do I need a dual-layer burner? I have two burners but neither are dual layer. How much do these bad boys run? how much are the dual-layer disks? Do the torrents burn easily? (I have a lot of experience with original xbox torrents)
thanks.
btw I know it's all illegal, and though I used to feel bad about it, I also figure that I have given the games industry as a whole (and microsoft in particular) a lot of money. Poor justification, but I'm sticking to it. |

| Yes you need a dual layer burner, they start around 40.000 won. I have no experience burning 360 games yet. |

15,000 a game? That still sounds so high. I thought someone said on here that you could download like a pack of 30 games off of a torrent for nothing.
I am thinking of buying an Xbox 360 (or PS3). Would appreciate some schooling on all of this, if anyone cares to add more to this thread. I'd be very thankful. |

I'm gonna buy a dual-layer burner next week and will then put up some info on burning the torrents. They seem to be very available on the various torrent sites, just a case of getting them burnt.
the 360 seems to have a lot going on under the hood, so to speak. I found one website where the guy made a laptop out of it.
As for xbox live, I'll try that later today, waiting for the megapass guy to come around. |

I had said awhile back that I got my xbox 360 with the following:
Xbox system with hardrive (just 20 gigs for now until you can buy a bigger 1)
Two controllers, plus a rechargable battery pack.
They flashed the bios (not sure what firmware I have but so far have downloaded and burned 8 games, all work)
2 copy games
Grand total 440 000 won. The guy speaks ok English, 25ish age guy who works with an ajuma, perhaps his Mum, I have no idea. His name is Jae Yong and I have his cell phone if anyone is interested. Take the skywalk from old Yongsan station across and as you come down the stairs turn left, there is a ramp under the parking garage basically and there are a bunch of vendors there. He is like the 3rd booth down the ramp. If you want the system you have to call him a day before to let him know so he can get it ready. His cell number is:
011-9116-2221 Jae Yong
Hope this helps............
Oh and he said if you want a copy game, simply call him the day before and tell him what title and he'll have it ready for 15000 won a pop. Or as mentioned you can get a dual layer burner and do it yourself. |

| Hey wuzza. Congrats on the nice buy. Do you have any idea what mod chip the guy used? Are you sure he didn't just firmware hack your system? I don't think there is a chip out, yet...except maybe the NME 360...but I'm not sure if it works well or not. Please fill us in! |

| From what I've read, there is no need to get a modchip when the same thing can be done by flashing the bios. Plus when you install the chip you pretty much void the warranty as they can see the sticker inside has been tampered with to do the soldering. Just my two cents....... |

bourquetheman: I think we may be talking about the same place from your description, but I have a different phone number and dont remember any ajuma, but the store is on the right as you walk in among lots of cell-phone shops.
As for whether the firmware was hacked or a mod chip installed, I'm not sure, but mod chips definitely ARE available. On saying that, the 360 doesn't have the "switch" that my modded xbox has.
www.llamma.com/xbox360 seems to be the home of modding on the internet, but their information is aimed at a high-user level. So far, I haven't been able to find a "modding for dummies" site. |

The warranty is void if you open the xbox. It doesn't matter if you get a chip or flash the drive. A chip is better because the original firmware is still on your drive. It temporarily injects the modded firmware into the drive.
If you get your drive flashed, you had better get a backup of the original firmware. If not, then you won't be able to get your drive replaced in the future. |

Just bought mine through wuzza's contact.
The system(premium), chip, extra controller and 3 games for 453,000. I am somewhat curious how he gets away with selling the premium system for 320,000 when it normally is about 380,000. But as long as it works I won't be asking any questions. |
