What part of breathing dirty polluted air is so attractive to right-wingers? Why do they oppose clean air regulations so vehemently? |

it hurts the economy. For one, it makes it more costly to produce energy and some products. Secondly, cleaner air means fewer respiratory problems. consequently, the health care system is deprived of potential income. and that's just off the top of my head. |

Why do left-wingers think they have a clue about what "right-wingers" like? |

This thread highlights the main difference between liberals and conservatives.
Liberals think conservatives represent a bad, malevolent force, constantly ascribing to them qualities of evil, greed, hate, and prejudice....
Conservatives think liberals represent a well-intentioned, yet ultimately idiotic and misguided force. |

So we're agreed that Liberals are right then? |

Only if you consider "idiotic and misguided" to be "right".... |

I was in India recently. On a train platform in Agra (not a huge city) the air was SO dirty that it was literally brown. You could not see the other end of the platform, and I'm being literal when I say that. The air actually gave me a severe sinus infection(mine and the doctor's conclusion).
Many people when they come over here post on this board why they keep getting sick with colds and sinus issues, and the answer is almost certainly air quality.
Air quality alone is reason enough to call for radical change in our emissions. Yes, I know that China and India are exempt, but it doesn't mean that we shouldn't do anything.
To apply a bit of right-wing logic: if we couldn't take the chance that Saddam might have WMDs and use them, how the hell can we take the chance that 'climate change' isn't real. It has the power to cause massive damage to the entire planet.
The evidence is overwhelming, the dissenters are dubious, and even if they're both wrong there are plenty of other reasons to go forward on industrial and technological changes to help this planet and all of the life on it. |

OP presumes or asserts the following:
(a) that those who oppose environmentalism are right-wingers; and
(b) that right-wingers enjoy breathing dirty air.
What quality of discussion were you hoping to provoke? And by the way, who, again, passed the Clean Air Act and created the Environmental Protection Agency in the United States, Ya-ta? |
