I don't see how your employer could have taken it? Are you sure your employer was paying into it?

I believe it is mandatory if the school has a certain amount of full-time employees.

You should contact the pension office ASAP to see if your employer has paid into it, they should also send you information in the mail 1 or 2 times per year informing you of your $$$.

Because your school is closing I think you can transfer the visa. Have your new employer check into it. It could be an incentive for a new employer to hire you.

It is required by law.

You can file a complaint with the pension office if they have not been making contributions. You will also have to back-pay your portion of the contributions.

If your contract is up and your visa/ARC expiring, then simply find a new job and begin the visa application process from the start with your new school. You will have to make a visa run.

I should have been more clear. He never deducted it from my salary! But I thought it was mandatory for Canadians to pay into the pension plan.

My contract is finished on the 28th February and my ARC expires on the 24 of March. I'm trying to avoid leaving because of time constraints, plus I have dogs and my new job starts soon!

I know this! I don't think he's dirty just not aware of much! He owns the building and runs the hogwan as a side project. But the man is like 80 years old and didn't even now how much I made when we started negotiating for a renewal.

So does anyone know about his obligation towards pension and mine?
