Hey, have any of you seen 'the President's Last Bang?' I can't remember the Korean name.
It's a 2005 movie about the assassination of President Park. I just watched it last night, and thought it was really, really good. It was only 1979, but man, what a completely different country it was back then! KCIA interrogation rooms, curfews, Seoul with empty streets...no hand phones...no noraebang...anyway, definitely worth a look if you haven't already.

I bought the DVD. I'll watch it when I move back to Canada. It's one of the few movies that showed with English subtitles during its run in Korea (only at limited theaters... Koreans, like North Americans, don't really like subtitles on their films). Before that, I think they showed Taeguki and Silmido with subtitles in some theaters.

I did see a concert with the woman singer who was at the president's last bang, the one who was ostensibly asked to sing Japanese songs.

Probably my favorite Korean movie, and yes I have seen Sympathy For Mr. Vengance and Oldboy and Taeguki.

to "The presidents last bang"

yeah its a good film. would have been more interesting if it had been released now in time for 박정희s daughter's run at the presidency.
there's some really strange translated titles here.. bungee jumping of their own, for instance..

I always find it funny how Korean movies radically alter the English title. Just a marketing thing, I'm sure. There was a good movie a number of years ago doing the film fest circuit under the English title "Girls Night Out" although the Korean was "Virgin's Dinner".
