I kind of figured that the 'Daves' gatherings are more for the younger people, but I'm interested to know if any 40+ crew fronted?

There were plenty of seniors at the last gathering.

Yeah, not a bad scheme Roch. I have mates of all ages, but somtimes the old crowd can reminisce (sp ) about the 'way it was", or even about the 60's/ 70's scene. Maybe lame, but good times for some.

D.B. What kinds of numbers?

I have many impure reminiscences from the late 60s, early 70s, but I see no point in my showing up if the main activity is drinking. How about an over-40 bowling league - or four competing teams: old fart men's, old fart ladies, young slacker women, young slacker men? ...

Or card games - other than those with the word "Texas" in the name ...) A Chinese rummy (aka "May I" ...) tournament would be nice (and I'd stand to maybe come out ahead a tew thousand won... Cool )

No offence inteded to the original poster or any of the replies,

Anyway I'm curious about something. I've lived in three mid sized cities and they've all had their own over 40s clubs. In Seoul are there no such mini clubs for each -dong or something? Or is Seoul so soul-less that the only forum for over 40s angst is through meetings on an INTERNATIONAL forum such as this?

I think that this is a good forum to organize such meetings among expats in Korea because the "General..." forum is mainly NOT INTERNATIONAL like the "Current Events" and "Off-Topic" forums, but LOCAL "living in Korea" topics...

If there are already some "over 40" groups meeting in various mid-sized cities, they were likely organized here as well (or by an ad in some now-defunct foreigner magazine ...)

My OP wasn't about organising anything. I was just curious as to how many 40ish and up people went along to the last get together. Future reference stuff and all. D's Brother gave me the answer.

Anyway, the "I'll be there" comment from Roch, just got me thinking a bit, hence the reply.

As for the other comments, in good humour, or legit, well...

Checkers in the park! A good way to spend a few hours.
Bowling! Never been in Korea, wouldn't mind though
Cards! Love playing crib, also a backgammon fan.
Quilting! I'll wait a couple more years until I need a granny blanket.

Rteacher has it right. This is the best forum and the best way to organise something, or to throw an idea out to others.

I have posted many times that I have a web page for over 40's.
If you are interested email me and I will send you the information.

Some times people get together to meet, and some times they just share information over the web.

42 here, and I went to the last gathering. Had a great time talking to people of all ages. Many of the older ones were still there later than the wee small hours.

I'm always ready for a beer or three: favourite location, high table in 3 Alleys.

And yes, I've been to a few of the (mostly)over40's lunches, met some good people and always enjoyed the time.
