More agressive pricing from Nvidia. It's only got 320mb of memory but it will do DX10 and gets pretty impressive test results.........I'm just constantly amazed and exasperated at how something you bought 6 months ago is superceded by something twice as good for the same money!! Or less!! *Groan*...

Saw that yesterday. There are still Vista problems with those cards, but that is sort of to be expected, I suppose. They'll work it out and give people updates.

Looks like a nice card. I wouldn't buy anything not HDCP compatible, though. Some big TVs might not work via the digital output without it.

Vista problems is an understatement.. They plainly don't work in vista.. No drivers they can be best summarized as Alpha release.

I'm gonna pick up one of those 8800GTS 320MBs this weeked. Had been thinking about getting one of the 640MB ones for a bit but couldn't justify it to myself. Now, the price is right. Finally, I'll get to walk in the forests in Oblivion without feeling like I'm on PCP. Hopefully.

Anyone know if Yongsan will be open this weekend? Probably wont will it. Balls. I'd guess the 8600 will be out around Late-April, Early-May.

Guys, please heed my warning:

The test results on F.E.A.R. are inaccurate. As you all know, I have a BFG 7900GTX card. This card, with everything maxed out (including soft shadows, AA, etc.) pulls in an average of 96Fps @ 1600 x 1200. No, I am not talking about 1024 x 768, I am talking about 1600 x 1200. The site shows an avg. fps @ 48. Me thinks not!

You know, I did a google of your card and almost all reviews are consistent with the link provided. 1600 x 1200 seems to stay under an average 50fps in all reviews. The max FPS is high...like 95, but certainly not the average.

Honestly CL...if you get an average of 95FPS, your maximum must be near 200....can't get that on any rig with FEAR, even staring at a wall.

I have to call you on that too CL..since you're throwing your specs around. I think you're exaggerating just a bit. Here's a link:

http://www.thetechlounge.com/article/279-9/BFG+GeForce+7900+GTX+OC+512MB+PCIE/

They're giving 27FPS at 1600x1200 and all the goodies (AA,etc) with an Athlon fx-55 (almost on par with your cpu) 2G RAM, and the same GPU as you got.

But maybe your pc is special or you got some buyers remorse Wink

Strange, though. No offense, but the Tom's guy has got a superior system to yours...why would he get lower scores? He's using a E6800 and 2x1G 800GHz RAM and the same chipset (775). You got some stuff O/Ced?

CL....you got 96% 40 or more fps!! Be happy!! That's a great framerate! I just ran the same test on FEAR on my not too bad PC. With the 7900GT. I only got 11% above 40fps...
