Hey I saw an ad for a job at Pagoda in Seoul. Can anyone give me the scoop on them? Good, ok or bad? Just curious. Thanks. Mr. Green

I'll tell you what I've found out from doing research this week.

#1-If it isn't obvious, you need to deal with split shifts. Some claim that within a few months, you can pull a few strings and get off of them. Some split shifts you can deal with just so you can teach adults. Others like from 6 a.m. to 10/11 p.m. Forget it. Do a search. Everyone says it wears you down.

#2-There was this time with a person and a thing....ok basically...some people have some gripes about the management. Everyone says that things can change almost on a daily basis...some good, some bad. Do some searching on daves. You might hear reference to one specific incident involving a forced illegal signing of a contract. You decide.

#3-From what I've seen on the website...the benefits don't look so hot. They only REIMBURSE you for airfare one way. They don't provide housing but will give you an allowance for key money and furniture (not sure what key money is exactly). The rest comes from...you guessed it...you! If you go somewhere like Kangnam...it's not cheap-that includes housing, and everything else you want to buy.

#4 Here's some pluses. The main reason people put up with pagoda is because they are teaching adults. Adults are great.

Anyway, that's what I've found out so far. I'm going to shy away from Pagoda for right now myself. I might try to see what they offer me as far as working hours are concerned. If I can get a later morning shift, I miiiight consider it, but I'll need to try to calculate living expenses versus how much they pay me to see if it is profitable to me or not.

Pagoda is a big chain of Hogwans.

Why not do a search and find specific information about the division and branch of Pagoda you saw the ad for?

Would you really want to work for a company like this?
