So my current set of luggage is looking rather tired............
Where have you purchased 'good' quality luggage here in Korea?
Ideally I would like 1 x-large hard sided and 1 wheeled duffel. |

Have you thought it through? Do you really want spanking new cases?
Only for customs at home to halt you in your tracks wanting a looksee what's in them bags.
My abiding practice is to look shoddy whilst traveling. Added to a deadpan expression ensures that getting past the man is a breeze. |

Hi
i recently bought a new suitcase in itaewon it was awesome. large suticase with 3 or 4 compartments and combination lock, even a suit section, the quality was excellent. It cost me 40,000won. there are many luggage stores there and some on the sidewalk and they will barter with you. |

If you have been out for more than 1 year customs won't care about the value of the stuff you are bringing back.
Not sure about Amerians but Canuks have the usualy $750 duty free
AND
they have an additional 10,000 duty free for a repatriation allowance (returning home) after a stay OUT-Of-COUNTRY of 1 full calendar year or more.
Just landed back in vancouver on a visit home, been out for more than a year and delared $5000 value for stuff that I am bringing home including a 7 month old laptop and they didn't even blink (and I said I was just home for a visit).
(2 rules that you have to qualify for to get the additional 10grand - goods must have been used by you and they must be more than 6 months old).

Good to know, I'll have to go shopping in Itaewon for luggage in the next few months before I leave.
I have one piece of luggage where the wheel is broken, otherwise it's in good shape. Is it pretty easy to get the wheel fixed? |

The luggage area of Namdaemun has a great selection at rockbottom prices. From cheap Chinese brands to expensive stuff like Samsonite. |
