We bought ours @ Technomart which is at Kangbyong Station Line #2. It's both a sofa and folds down into a bed. |

If you have a Korean friend, cheap but decent stuff is to be found in the world of online shopping. Try interpark, Gmarket, etc. You can get something new for cheap, and they will deliver and assemble it for you too.
You can also check out the "second hand store & used goods" sticky found at the top of one of the forums, I think maybe this one. There are some decent places around Seoul and the website usedtown.com(?) has pictures, maps, phone numbers, everything you could need. Don't know if they provide delivery though.
Also, since 'tis the season for all of the teacher turnaround, you could always post something on the Buy/Sell/Trade forum. Chances are good at this time of year that someone will be willing to unload a futon for cheap. A lot of people are moving this time of year and getting rid of stuff, so there are definitely bargains to be found.
Good luck. There are lots of options. |

We bought a nice futon from Homever for 149,000 won. They delivered the futon and assembled it all for that price. We could not be happier. |

How about Japanese style futons? Do any of you sleep on the floor? |

koreans prefer sleeping on mats to beds and so any little corner market should have one. |

The ones in the CJmarket catalogue look sweet. Might pick one up. I would imagine they deliver it right to your door. |

Are futons catching on in Korea?
At first I assumed Koreans were ignorant to not take advantage of the space-saving virtues of futons. But I soon realised that the Japanese don't have heated floors. Korea does. Sleeping and sitting on a heated floor is a cultural thing for Koreans. Although many sleep in beds nowadays because their apts are well enough heated.
Still, as I struggled to get comfortable on my brother-in-law's floor all day yesterday I was fantasizing about a nice sofa to sit on. |

I've also heard that the reason why so many Americans and Westerners have bad backs is because of beds. I now sleep on the floor for health reasons. |
