Just wondering if anyone's used more than book 1? Do you like it and would you recommend it for a middle school, low intermediate student? What about a high schooler (grade 2, so a higher level book).

I've got book 1 here at home from one of the conferences I went to and it looks OK... but would like some input from others who have used this book beyond book 1?

TIA

Very Happy

I used Touchstone 1 for my technical high students (who are mostly lower level in English...) I thought that it would be more suitable for high schoolers than the Let's Go series, which is better geared for younger learners, I think.

Unfortunately, I also thought that the self-help CDs enclosed within each book would be an excellent aid for students to practice speaking English at home - only to find that practically none of them have access to CD players (everything is MP3 or some other media at this place and time...) Consequently, hardly a school day goes by when I don't find discarded CDs - and even books left behind ...

The (separate) classroom CD for Touchstone was also not available in Korea, and was not worth ordering. I was able to get cassettes, however.

Overall, I still think that the book is as good or better than most in terms of organization and content, but I don't plan on encouraging my freshmen class to buy them - I may just go with photocopies. I'm undecided as to whether my other classes will progress to Touchstone 2 - I'll see if I can find something more appealing to them ...
