Ok, I have a problem. My Ohio driver's license expires in March. I did find out that you can renew it through the mail. I have the forms, and have filled everything out, aside from one part. You have to have a licensed optometrist give you a eye exam, and fill everything in, in English. I went, along with a Korean student, to have the exam, and found out that things are done differently here. In America 20/20 is great. Here they have a decimal system of sorts. We Americans also get our peripheral vision checked. I was told that no Korean optometrists do that. Ugggh! It is an absolute must to get every part of the test filled in.

So here's my question. Does anyone know of an American style optometrist? I really am in quite a bit of a rush. Thanks for any info!!!!

Do you suffer from night vision blindness? Do you have cataracts? Are you legally blind? Are you over age 75? I didn't think so. I think that maybe this is one area of your life where you can just do your best and call it good enough. This doesn't need to add to the stress and drama in your life, trust me.

If you get stopped by police (in Ohio) are they going to check your vision to make sure that you filled out the form properly? Come on, it's not like the Ohio State Legislature is going to come after you for lying about the *exact* prescription on your driver's license. If you need corrective lenses, I'm sure you already know that, and have the proper prescription, regardless of what "system" it is.

I don't understand why you can't fill out some parts yourself and have the doctor do the rest. Or just pay him an extra man won and have him fill it in to your specifications. I doubt if anyone is going to call him to make sure that he did everything accurately, exactly as specified.

Maybe check around Itaewon or the army base(s) closest to you, if you're determined to find a doctor who can fill out Ohio state forms properly.

How about just renew your drivers license when you go back home? not worth getting all bent out of shape here about.. I am also surprised that you can even do it in the mail with all the new security stuff going on anyways..
