I've loved karaoke for a while, but now, I'll sing a song at an arcade with a karaoke machine to relieve stress. It costs just 300 to 500 won per song but damn, it does help me to relax after a long day.
Anyone else try this? |

I've heard SO many people say they cannot sing, and yet they don't even try. Take a class or better yet, exchange vocal lessons for English instruction.
Trust me, people, singing has a VERY theraputic effect. I just wish Korea had the karaoke open bars that are ubiquitous in Japan and the Philippines. |

I'll give that a hearty my ass.
There are very few things that annoy the *beep* out of me as much as 노래방. I can't explain why, but I actually get angry when I go (and I'm usually on a pretty even keel).
Stress relief for some, maybe, but for me it's a stress gainer. |

I like it every now and then too but I think some of the lobbies aren't insulated well enough so that people outside can't hear it.
I'm not sure I sing THAT well and the uber ego-boosting rating system that awards me 90 - 100 % for su.cking doesn't help anyone.
Anyway, if I can learn to sing in Korean, I might feel better.

Damn, for a minute I thought you were talking about room salons, then I realized the title wasn't 'karaoke and hand relief'.

I think a major key is to sing songs you WANT to sing, not the ones that are the only English songs available.
The karaoke machines are getting better in selection. I sang I Was Made for Loving You by Kiss and Hungry Heart by Bruce Springsteen recently, and man, it was awesome. |
