I had the day off today so I could go to immi and pick up my ARC card and passport--Yippee!! I'm finally legal. The former boss didn't screw me over the LOR. The immi department didn't screw me over and let me work without a visa run. The new boss didn't get me into a visa violation problem by having me work without the new E-2. Free at last! Free at last!
On the way home I was starving so jumped off the subway at Gangnam and started cruising the street looking for something to eat and EUREKA! There was a Subway. I haven't had a sub in 2 years.
That meatball sandwich on Parmesan and Oregano bread really went down well. |

Glad to hear your in good spirits. Why were you fearful of your former boss wanting to cause harm to your career? |

| Subway? That's all it takes to make you happy? Damn, you must live far from Seoul. |

Well I managed to deduce that Ya-ta Boy had his first subway sandwich in 2 years, and thoroughly enjoyed it. And I'm half drunk....
Not much of a subway fan myself, but to each his own I reckon.... |

| Ya-ta: Congrats on getting everything you wanted!! I sure understand about the Subway. I've got to drive for around 40 minutes to get to the closest one! |

Congratulations on your Subway feast, Ya-ta!
Might I recommend that the next time you visit, you try their low-fat, meat-alternative, vegetarian offerings? Such as their 100% meatless Wholesome & Hearty Gardenburger and their scrumptious Veggie Delight™ Salad? These items are good for your health, eco-friendy, and humane. But I must warn you, the Gardenburger, while entirely meatless, does unfortunately contain trace amounts of caseinate, so... you may want to give that one a miss. Up to you.
Cheers! |

I ate Subway in the States and I thought it was **** compared to what you can get in a half decent deli. Anyway after a year and a bit in Korea some N.American friends of mine were super excited about a Subway sandwhich shop (we were visiting Busan from the sticks) and so I gave it a go; it was faaaaaantastic. I hadn't eaten anything "Western" so good since I left England. Since then I've eaten Subway sandwiches a further 5 times (two of them at Incheon airport) and I now think they're great.
My last town had a "Sand and Food" ("When people come together there should be Sand.. and Food" is their slogan) but it wasn't the same. Especially since the Adjumma was always reluctant to give me jalapenos on my sandwich because she thought my whiteass couldn't handle it..
Anyway I am now a Subway convert. I am moving to Seoul next week and looking forward to eating similar foods on a monthly, or maybe even WEEKLY basis! I'm excited.
I hear they have wholemeal bread and shops that sell cheese and stuff up there too.. maybe Seoul will be heaven.. |

Do they really have these in Korea???? I've been avoiding Subway because I assumed that they wouldn't (although in Canada the veg sandwich is called the "Veggie Pattie", but I assume that it's similar). Yay! |

Try the Itaewon Subway.
It's a very good Subway restaurant, and the owner is a very nice guy. |

Yeah this is still true, though. When I am in the US, I don't go to Subway because there are just too many other smaller delis that are so much more scrumptilious. But in Korea..
There used to be a Subway about a 5 minute drive from my place, in Mokdong. It closed down several months ago, and I thought about just ending it all right there. |

Surely you jest? My local Quiznos (Star Tower, ) are very proficient sandwich makers. CF Yeoksam subway which is probably the worst subway in Seoul. 2 kinds of bread with ingredients on the turn. In their defence they are cheaper than every other subway I've been to. $4 for a vegie sub compared with $5.50 elsewhere. Still, I'll pay extra for Quiznos. Yum. |
