KTF has a special 4-digit number you can dial for free English service. Unfortunately, I've forgotten what it is. Embarassed Anyway, just stop into any KTF and they should be able to help you find it.

The English-speaking people I've encountered on the other end have been generally nice with a high level--but not fluency--in English. I've found them to be pretty helpful, for the most part.

I actually have a local KT person I can call in English. Just show up at the office and if they can't communicate with you, they will find someone who can. (In my experience...ever since then, I have actually done everything in Korean.)

I called and spoke to someone. I kind of more or less figured out what she was saying though her English was not great, but it was something.
I decided to use my phone less even though my bill wasn't high as some people I know. It was still too high for me. I didn't know they charge you extra for calling cell phones. I don't know my friends' home numbers. I've decided to chat on-line more with them rather than call. Does it make a big difference if I get their home phone numbers when calling from a home phone? Anyway, their home phone number would still be long distance since most people I know are either in Seoul or in the Chungnam province area rather than Ilsan.

Man I wonder if they jacked up prices or something, because I just got my bill in the mail today and it was outrageously high. I mean 70,000 won?? I barely even talk on the phone. It's ridiculous bullsiht that they charge you extra to call a godamn cell phone. I'm pissed as hell about it. In the past it's only been about 20k a month, now it skyrockets to 70k? I've gotta get on the horn today, too, and demand a statement of every call, cuz I know I talked on the phone much less this month than I have in the past.

yeah 100 and extension 8 gets you good service in English. We just moved house and they were superbly efficient in sorting it all out and moving our number to our new place exactly when we wanted it. Great service.
