On my Windows XP English version I have to use the keyboard : Korean Input System (IME 2002). The regualar Korean one does not work. The language needs to be added from the control panel.
This may be with a copy purchased in the tunnel in Yongsan? |

Just wanted to let everyone who is using XP Korean language pack know that pressing the two "alt" keys on your keyboard together simultaneously will do the same thing as the hanja key. I'd been looking for this shortcut for about a year, and had even asked countless koreans before i came to korea. I just happened to stumble upon this today. But i guess that they wouldn't really have a reason to know about this shortcut since they have korean windows and a hanja shortcut key on their keyboard... my question is still why i could never find that info on any site explaning about IME in XP...
I didn't see this posted anywhere, so my apologies if this is already common knowledge! |

| Here's my problem: My copy of XP isn't legit and can't pass Microsoft's Validation test! Therefore I can't install ANY east Asian languages on my computer. All I want to be able to do is to type in Hangeul! Are there other Korean IMEs out there? Can anyone help me??? |

How does one go about this in Vista? My gf installed PandoraTV on my English Vista Home Premium machine one day while I was at work, and indeed, it displays gibberish. She was choked, and asked why it doesn't work. I have the Korean IME installed, so I can type hangul no prob. I am assuming that I need to uninstall, then reinstall with some additional step included... |

hey that works.
In the classic view on control panel.
control panel> regional and language options> administrative> change system locale> choose Korean
then there is a little EN icon next to the sytem tray
click that and choose KO. |

Thanks, got it working. The gf will be stoked. But, now my weather gadget on the sidebar reads 'service not available' one more thing to sort out...
*EDIT* got the weather gadget sorted too. |

OK, so I managed to "validate" my copy of windows and get around the OGA deal with Office. Problem is, I'm running Office 2007, and the only Korean IME available (for free anyway) is the one for Office XP.
Basically, all I want to do is to be able to send emails in Korean. I tried looking for Firefox plugins but couldn't find anything. Microsoft has the Korean IME for IE, but not for IE 7, which is what I'm running. I've tried the other suggestions on this board and am still out of luck...Any other ideas? I really am at a loss! |

If you're on Vista, with the Korean IME there is a 'soft keyboard' which is a hangul keyboard map pop-up.
