Can anybody help me?
I am trying to decide whether or not to renew my contract.
What are the basic demands or requests to ask for?
What kind of raise should I expect (if any). I am currently
receiving 2 million, but this is my first time teaching.
However, I have a certificate in TESOL, which none of the other
teachers have.
Also there is no severance pay in my current contract..
Can I ask for it to be included on the new contract?
Thanks |

It doesn't really matter whether severance is in your contarct or not. It is Korean law that you receive it so if your boss is trying to say he doesn't have to pay it, he's full of it. Call the labor board and they'll set him straight.
It would be a good idea if you renew to have it included in your next contract just to stop him trying anything.
I'd at least ask for 2.2 if I was you. You have one year in and a TESOL so you should at least be getting that. There are plenty of jobs out there offering that to newbies. |
