Hi I'm interested in going to see a basketball game. I've asked around (students, other employees) but everyone looks at me like I'm nuts. It's on tv all the time!

I go every weekend...myself and a couple of other friends have season tickets for the city we live in.
While the standard is not NBA it is pretty good, perhaps on par with the Greek and Italian leagues(foreign player wise anyway)....

Anyway this weekend the games are as follows home team first
Friday: 7pm
(Wonju)
KTF(Busan)

Saturday: 3pm
LG(Changwon) - I'll be at this game with a few mates. Doing a road trip for it.
(Seoul) at Jamshil Student Gymnasium. Big Seoul derby...should be a good crowd(8-10 000) and a good game.
안양 KT&G(Anyang) vs. 전주 KCC(Jeonju)

Sunday: 3pm
부산 KTF(Busan) vs. 원주 동부(Wonju)
창원 LG(changwon) vs. 울산 모비스(Ulsan) - I'll be at this one as well....

5pm
(Daegu)- Jamshil
KT&G(Anyang)

Anyway...more information if you can read Korean on this website.
http://www.kbl.or.kr/

Any questions just give me a PM..been following it for about 5 seasons so pretty much know it inside out now.

I love the game of basketball and covered it many years as a sportswriter.

I appreciate the KBL for its efforts, but I am certain that a good NAIA college team in the US could win this league. Any Division I tNCAA eam would destroy a KBL team.

And I think that right now, Lake Oswego High from Portland, would beat most of these teams. I'm not being a jerk. I love Korea, but Lake Oswego has the best 7-footer in the USA right now, bound for UCLA, damn it, not Oregon.

The KBL plays lazy, soft defense and is not the least bit physical.
Many of these players would melt in the supercharged atmosphere of Division I basketball.

yes the korean players in general are soft, the referreing certainly doesn't help...so many grandmother fouls.

However the caibre of foreigner they attract here is good. It is the 5th highest paying league in the world(after US, Spain, Italy and Greece) and the pay will go up higher on average next year to be almost matching those Euro leagues......maybe they can't attract the best of the best that are in Europe but not shabby..

Also because the foreign standard here is good, in the 5 years i have been here the Korean standard is getting better and better....Kim Joo Sung(Wonju), Bang song Yoon(SK seoul), Kim Seung Hyun(Daegu) and Lee Dong Guk(ulsan) are good examples are the newer generation that are all quality players.
