I'm not in the teaching biz, so I don't know how often you get the opportunity, but I know sometimes teachers get to name their students. So I think each month, as many teachers as possible should conspire to name their students the Name of the Month.
March's Name of the Month: Condoleeza
By the end of March, I want at least 6 new Condoleezas. |

My coworker and I had a bet to see who could name a kid "Millhouse" first. He won. I feel too guilty giving them a weird name, so I'll put some funny ones down on paper with some normal ones.
My coworker named some kids Captain Kirk, Spock, Robot, and Cheeto. |

Robot isn't so bad at all. Koreans tend to write the name "Robert" in Hangul virtually the same way.
Spock though... that one's irredeemable. |

I typically go ethnic. They want an American name, I make sure they have a good mix between WASP (John, paul, Harold), Latino (Esteban, Pablo, Ricardo), Black nationalist (Mohammed, Jamal, Kimshawnwa), Hillbilly (Zeke, Jebidiah, Jethro), or whatever else. I mean, really- when the kid gets older and enters the professional market, or goes to school internationally, they're going to use their Korean name- it just makes more sense than someone saying, "Hi, My name is Soo-Hyun, but everyone calls me Betty". |

I'll have the chance to name / rename scores of them the week after next but I can't see Condi working. I once tried to name the only student at the school taller than me Venus and, well, 'Venus ugly ... no like...' (care to guess why?). |

I named a student "Dexter", the serial killer who kills serial killers.
Thinking of naming any new students after serial killers. I could have a serial killer class.
Manson, Bundy, etc.
Hee hee hee ha ha. |

I gave the students a chance to pick their own name (as homework). The deal was, come to the next class with an English name or I will choose one for you.
I named boys: Smedley, Bertram, Sylvester, Chester, Fester, Rupert, and Obediah.
I named girls: Gertrude, Ethel, Bertha, and Chloe.
No offense to anyone reading this whose name is on the list.
