Anyone know of a town near Gwangju called Naju? Know anything about it? Is it cool or a bust?

Click on the 'search' command at the top of your screen and type 'Naju'. The search engine is quite good when a name is entered.

There are several related threads:

"I have just arrived in Naju City"
"O my God i'm going to work in Naju."
"Info on smaller cities in Korea (Wiki)"
"Anyone out in rural Cheollanamdo?"

It is the home of the Naju pear. It has a Lotteria and 2 universities. Other than that its pretty much a suburb of Gwangju. Nothing of any importance here. Probably would be a good place to work as its 15 minutes from a major city and the country kids are probably nicer than most city kids.

The only redeeming quality of Naju is that it's close to Gwangju. For a "city" of 100,000 it has nothing going for it. You can take bus trips to smaller towns in the area to do tourist stuff, and you can go to Gwangju for shopping or for a Western food fix, but Naju is nothing special.

Is it really just 15 minutes from a major city?

Eh, seems more like 30 minutes away from Gwangju by bus. Here's info about Gwangju: http://wiki.galbijim.com/Gwangju It's okay . . . nothing special. About 1.5 million people, a few department stores, Western restaurants, parks, universities. Also connected to pretty much every place in the country via bus, so you may need to go there first if you want to visit another part of the country.
