depends on what kind of camera you're after.
honestly, i don't think you need books, i think you just need to make good use of the internet.
www.dpreview.com is the best site on the net for camera reviews. they also have a forum to discuss cameras and equipment.
www.photo.net has a lot of camera discussion also.
those are two general ones ... once you've decided whether to go nikon or canon, you can go to one of the myriad of sites that deal with specific brands.
don't waste your money buying books. you'll get better, more up-to-date information online ... and you should save that cash for camera resources!
