If you were working at a hagwon that had up until now been pretty good but then they tell you "I'm sorry, we can't afford to pay you for last month, please be patient, we promise we'll pay you soon" what would you do?

Ask for a definite payment date.

You need to keep some things in mind:

-how big is the school?
-how's enrollment?
-is this going to be a regular thing?

Not having wages on hand is never a good sign, but it doesn't necessitate a knee-jerk reaction the first time round.

How long have you been working there? How long has the school been around? Do you think it's shady?

Maybe they have some expensive jewlry you can hold onto until payment? You should look for another job immediately. Get off of that sinking ship.

If it were my hagwon, I'd say, "Well, why don't you sell that big projector screen and that DVD system that nobody uses? They should be worth at least 5 million."

Seriously.

Why can't they pay you? Probably more like "Why don't they want to pay you?" They can, but you're not first on their list. That's what.

What a bunch of aresholes. Just like a friend who says, "I'll get ya next week" or like a spoiled kid who keeps borrowing money of their parents.

We can't pay you. Yeah, whatever.

If there's no ticket home, kami can always move into the Seoul Ghetto. I hear markeboy, snowy32, and seoul_nhl are looking for a roommate.
