Jesus tomb found, says film-maker
A documentary claims this is the ossuary of Jesus Christ
Jesus had a son named Judah and was buried alongside Mary Magdalene, according to a new documentary by Hollywood film director James Cameron.
It examines a tomb found near Jerusalem in 1980 which the film-makers say belonged to Jesus and his family.
The Oscar-winning director of Titanic says statistical analysis and DNA back the claim.
Archaeologists say that the burial cave is probably that of a Jewish family with similar names to that of Jesus
[This film maker reminds of the gullible people who believed in the Da Vinci code. Many people had similar names back then. It is like getting all worked up because there is someone named Binyamin in Israel when there are thousands of them.]

Theres already all kinds of holes being punched in this story.
First off, according to enws reports, the name on the casket might be "Hanun" and not Jesus and as far as the other names in the area, they say the most common jewish names of that era.
Also how can anyone have DNA evidence? Does someone somewhere have a vial of Christ's DNA to compare to |

The god believers grasp to archaeological evidence as tenuous in support of their claims. Why start rejecting slipshod research now? |

If that's really Jesus' DNA, then they could clone him!
The scriptures say that Jesus would return. Maybe this is how.
"Jurassic Park," move over, 'cause you've got nothing on this.

This reminds me of an article I read about George Lucas. The man did his research, and when he was planning Star Wars he deliberately chose the name, because he knew there were enough sci-fi fans who would go and see any movie with a name like that, enough to make the movie profitable.
After the kerfuffle of The Da Vinci Code, Cameron and his buds know full well that the controversy will see the Bible Belt's bums on seats, and take care of the publicity for nix.
Since the movie's reported to disprove the idea that Jebus ascended to fluffy cloud land, there should be some interesting blowback on this one. |

I saw an interview on CNN today.
An old christian guy was blasting the filmmaker for not "thinking within reality" or some similar sheyat.
"I think this is more fanciful and absurd theorizing," said Joseph Zwilling, a spokesperson for the Roman Catholic Church in New York, where details of the discovery will be unveiled Monday.
Mmm...yeah, christians telling other people about fanciful and absurd theorizing.....OK.... |

What reason do believers have to question this? They'll have already dismissed it because of their faith in a 2000 year-old book. I'm just waiting for Junior to strap on his tinfoil hat, bark at the moon and get into this one. |

Hmm, which is less surprising: The fact that another person has come up with some sort of "evidence" that Jesus is dead/was married/had a child/was really a woman/was gay/came from India/shot JFK etc., or the fact that many at Dave's have used yet another thread to mock the religious? |

Let's just stick to mocking the ridiculous and leave water walking sky climbing baby Jesus alone. |
