I always dress in smart pants, shirt and often a tie. Why? because I'm not about to wear out my expensive Levi's by letting the kiddies abuse them every day. Also, a plain white shirt is cheaper than a decent T-shirt.

am sticking with largely collarless polo shirts and shorts, with the occasional t-shirt and three-button short-sleve collared shirt thrown in. Seems to work. Don't have all that much besides t-shirts (graduated from college in may) and haven't done any clothes shopping here yet....

Job interview= suit and tie
Next 3 months=tie, good pants ,good shirt
6 month mark=good shirt, no tie, nice pants, don't care about scuffed shoes.
8 months=new blue jeans, good shirt
10 months=worn the jeans all week, polo shirt, trainers
11 months=soju stains on the jeans, trainers start to smell due to old sox, moved down to a t-shirt
Last month= the same clothes you went out partying in until 5am and crashed out on the floor. remember to add deodorant and brush fangs before you're out the door.
Last Week=You reek of the dreaded green bottle, forget to shave and brush teeth before class. Visions of home swim before your eyes as you do your last ever phonics session.
Last Day=Back to the suit and tie, clean shaven, smellin' good. Looking sharp in a vain attempt to convince your boss that you have stayed the same all year, and yes Mr Kim, I would like my severence pay today, thankyou.

Where I work, the male teachers are required to wear shirts with collars and none of us are allowed to wear blue jeans except on Fridays. The women dress pretty much in skirts or "smart"/dress pants. Capris are alright as long as they're not made of jean material.

Also, men aren't allowed to wear sandals at any time but we women get away with it (though technically we aren't supposed to wear them either)

Hahaha, this always goes down beautifully at my hogwon. Laughing

This worked quite nicely at my interviews.

Dress code? Are you kidding? I don't know bout the rest of you but unless I'm teaching uni, theres no way I'm obeying dress codes for less than 2.5 million a month, and a kiss on each ass cheek.

I wear what I like when I like

Wow, you sound so tough.
My director told me to dress "very humble, very clean." He doesn't like much of anything except buttoned, collared shirts and trousers.

depends on the hagwon. i've taught in jeans and scruffy t-shirt. i've taught in pants, shirt and tie. you know the best people to ask, suprisingly, the hagwon you work/will work for. surprised me too when i thought of this answer.

Wow, shevek you have amazing *ahem*pathetic* comprehension skills, not to mention telepathic ones too. you gathered that I'm such a tough young lad from the fact that I'm not required to prance around like Ken for all the mothers who would think that the beautiful boy can teach so much better than any other dressed just like the hogwan looks. So I don't have to sweat it out in a collar in summer. Jealousy makes you nasty eh nitwitty one. or we could meet down the gym and we could mesure our toughness, waddya say pops?

Now boys play nice.

I wouldn't sign a contract that had a dress code either IF it specified girls had to wear dresses or skirts. No friggin' way.

And you, Homer, are quite the complimentary charmer. I bet you were a ladies' man in your pre-wife days. You really know how to make a girl feel good about herself. Razz

According to some people who post here, socks and sandals do just fine.
