A very wild story:

Posted: Sun Feb 25, 2007 7:31 pm Post subject: University- Criminal Employee Sex Offender

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part A.

The following case is true: names have been left out - for the moment-

AB University has many foreign staff working in that University. The vast majority are dedicated and well respected teachers.

However, one program, the G program is knowingly employing a criminal. His name is XXX.

On various occasions in 2006 XXX was soliciting prostitutes and paying for sex - late in 2006 the female students of the program become worried about this teacher's classroom behavior and made their fears known to the Administration.

In October the sex offender bought the semen stained undies of one if the Hookers he paid to have sex with into the university - he displayed them in the staff office and they were observed by shocked young female Korean students. XXX threw the undies onto another foreign teacher's table in full view of the students in the office at that time.

In November XXX admitted he was being tested for sexual diseases as a result of his activities with prostitutes.

At the same time a student of the University made it known that XXX was having sex with her and she was very scared of the consequences. She was distraught.

The program director confronted the Sex Offender - the two had a loud shouting match that was observed and overheard by the students- the students listened to explicit details of XXXs activities and his contact with prostitutes and detailed description of XXXs genitalia and the diseases he may have.

Surprisingly very surprisingly, XXX was re-hired and the main complainant fired - and two others warned to be quiet.

Late in December XXX was taken to a police station following an allegation made by a Korean that XXX was dealing in drugs the University did not terminate him despite the clear wording of the contract he was employed under.

Over 19 students have complained that this person is dangerous and they are afraid of him.

That a University can employ a Criminal (the sex offenses are jailable in Korea) - and that the students fears were ignored shows that this particular program is without doubt, the most dangerous place for Korean students in Korea. Foreign sex offenders are allowed to work with immunity.

It is very sad that a University can employ such a sick person - and ignore the welfare of their young female students.

The offender has already made numerous serious threats against those who speak of this matter-

Part B

Part B.
In March. Further details.

If a person wants to pay for a prostitute then i can't see much of a problem with that angle...it is his decision.

I can't see how he can be termed a sex offender. It doesn't sound like he is raping anybody or having unconsented sex....

All the other things he has done are pretty bad but they don't make him a criminal. just an idiot....and the drug dealing is an allegation, not stated as a fact and probably part of a smear campaign to bring him down...

If having sex with a prostitute here is a crime then you better start locking up half the Korean men in the country...it rats up there with Jaywalking as how serious it is enforced in this country...we would all be criminals then...

Yes, I also find it shocking Shocked that the university would still employ a member of staff when so many students have raised concerns about him.

Is he THAT good a teacher they can't afford to let him go?

He goes out with prostitutes. So what. Don't do it myself, but this is Korea. Remember the article at new years how the gov was going to give money to companies if their employees didn't go to prostitutes?

He's nailing a student. That to me IS a big deal.

The students are afraid of him. I'm very surprised that the school would re-hire him. I know that in north america, educators have some protection against unsubstantiated allegations, but it would surprise me if the schools position is "innocent until proven guilty".

Did he test positive for drugs? If so, then they can fire him I suppose. I don't what the law is.

STD? Gross, but it happens. Nothing criminal about that.

Tossing used panties onto someones desk. That's horribly anti-social and disgusting. Not sure you can fire someone for that, unless you can demonsrate sexual harrassment.

The guy, if any of this is real, is obviously a social misfit, and doesn't belong in a school.

If his students are afraid of him, I can pretty much guarantee that he isn't a good teacher.

The university may be afraid to get rid of him because that would be admitting that they made a mistake in hiring him and perhaps, keeping him on, if he has been there a while.

Nine years ago, when I was teaching English in a uni here years ago, we had a new hire who turned out to be an incredible drunk. After he began missing classes, others of us on the staff were dragooned to cover them. When we couldn't be had anymore, the director's grad student assistant, a kyopo, got the 8 am classes. This was all in the first month of being here. It went on and on. I could turn this into a freakiest wayguk story (and this from the golden era of freaky wayguks), but I'll keep it brief. Eventually, he threatened to kill one of the other teachers. This wasn't enough. Our coordinator had to go to the director after this and say, "Either he goes or I do" to get action. The school had no intention of renewing the guy, but was going to ride out his contract because firing him would make them look bad.

It was bad news for the coordinator, too. He was sacked at the end of the year for pushing them to this change. Bad news, too, for all of us, because he was replaced by the evil shrew. But that's another story.

And,if it's crap?

Quite frankly, the OP is careful to point and yet not to point, inviting people to fill in the blanks.

It was a distasteful post at efl-law because it was posted as a serialisation.Part B next month thing.

If there was a real concern that was articulated to the Uni press or student services,I'll apologise that I suspected this of one-upmanship or guttersniping.
