|
|
I've noticed that after a day of teaching, I have from 6-7 50 min. classes a day, my face is sore as hell. I can especially feel the aching in my cheeks. I don't know if it's from just the teaching or if maybe I'm over-pronouncing my words for the kids. I've also noticed that I'm getting those little lines on the sides of my mouth (I think they're actually called smile lines) and wonder if this could also be teaching related.
Don't know what made me think of it today, but now that I think about it I often come home and give myself a cheek massage to loosen them up...strange huh?
I know I'm gettin up there in age (almost out of my 20's) so the lines are to be expected..., but just wondered if anyone else has noticed this and is there any advice for curbing it? (stop talking would not work in this case) |

That's one of the more interesting questions anyone has posted in a while.
The only people I've ever heard complain of sore cheeks are the people who drop acid and grin for hours on end. Maybe someone is lacing your morning cup of 녹차 with LSD. If that is the case, perhaps you aren't really teaching 6-7 classes a day, but are hallucinating some or all of them. |

|
|
TMJ, a disorder of the jaws being misaligned, can cause sore jaws, especially after talking a great deal every day. Can also be related to headaches. Don't know if this is what is bothering you, but just thought I would mention it. If not TMJ, just talking a lot at school is a lot of adjustment! |

I wonder if I've also been hallucinating getting my paycheck...that would really suck!!
Seriously, I guess I need to cut back on the talking, grinning, extra-clear articulation, smiling (and being slipped LCD) to stop this from happening. I thought it might be common with teachers, guess not. |

Or if you're stressed, you may be grinding your teeth at night, making your jaws extra sensitive during the teaching day, and more prone to aching. |

dam_on,
Your experience is not unusual. I also have this problem if I speak a lot during a long stretch of classes. I also know others who have this problem. |

i lecture for 6-9 hours straight, and constantly have this problem.
i attribute the paint to smiling and other facial expressions, though, as much as from talking for such long periods.

I have this problem but I don't think it's due to stress...
But then I only do it after a night of binge drinking, which has helped me to cut back on the sauce tremendously... |
