seoulunitarian:

If the PRC gets to uppity over Taiwan, access to resources, borders or anything else that could be considered a clash of civilizations, they should be brought down.

The time to do it is sooner than later, before they get stronger. With NMD in place in NA, Korea and Japan the risk is small that anything could get through even if the PRC were stupid enough to try.

I don't see it as the beginning of the end for anything except that our side (the west) wins the clash of civilizations.

War on terror? What a farce. Iraq was just America's way of smacking a disobediant child to show the world that it's still the boss. Iraq was never a threat, and America knew even before its propoganda campaign that Iraq didn't have WMDs.

The result of America's "preemptive" war and blatant disregard for international law has only resulted in rising fear of America throughout the world. Results from polls in Europe suggest over 80% of Europeans view America as the biggest threat to world peace. I'm sure it's not only Europe that feels that way. I'm of the opinion that recent policies have harmed America in the long run, and have actually increased the likelihood of terrorist attacks on America. If history has taught us anything, it's that power corrupts.

The above post is THE best support for impeachment. Impeachment is the only way Americans will have any right to ask the world to trust us in the future. If they don't trust us, we cannot lead. It is that simple.

EFL:

You are joking, of course!

The Americans do not have a duty to the "rest of the world" to trust them. America is a sovereign nation and its president owes his duty to the American people, and so does the Congress.

Mikowee:

In today's world of Islamic excess fear of the US is to be sought not avoided. We cannot reach their hearts and minds so let them, many Europeans includedm know fear.

If the president "owes his duty" (that's awkward) to the people, then he should be pulling out of Iraq about now. That's what the majority of the American people want, though I must admit I have to rely on polls for that information.

Fear has never created true followers. The moment those under a rule of fear see an opening for escape of attack, they will take it. It does not matter whether the fear is coming from America or another dictatorship you may like less.

Sometimes your posts seem so 1984ish, with America becoming Oceania.

Peace

The president 's job is not to follow polls it is to do what he thinks is best for the nation. That is why the US has elections every four years.

Mideast nations and elties had been after the US for a long time. The US didn't start this war. Iraq is not the entire war nor the end of the war.

The decline of the US has been reported many times. Why won't it be okay this time? China and India are going places but the US isn't going anywhere. As long as the US can grow at 3-4% and get science talent from India it will be okay. If you want to see who is really in decline take a look at Europe.
