My 30th is coming up in two days. I have dreaded this birthday since high school.
I remember thinking, way back then, that my 20s were party time; no have a house or kids time; all me and good time time!

But now those times are "coming to a close". Sure it's all mental and it doesn't have to be. But I can't seem to stop the dread of March 4th.

I am not looking forward to my fortieth but I am trying not to dread it.

Kyber I can tell you that my thirties have been much more fun than my twenties. If you think 30 is over-the-hill, settle-down time you have been too long in Korea!

Generally I have felt more confident in my thirties, had a better love life, better social life and at the grand old age of 38 am just about to get married. The only downside is that I was slimmer in my twenties and a bit better-looking but I didn't appreciate it at the time....

Enjoy your thirties!

i dreaded my 30th, having grown up amongst hippies who believed that one could never trust anyone over 30. i thought turning 30 would magically turn me into "the man." i would become staid, uncool, and dull.
well no.
my 30's have been fanfreakintastic. my 20's were about finding myself and my place in the world. now i know all that shit, and i'm comfortable with my place in life and who i've become. like muffin said, my sex life is great, i have an active and fullfilling social life, i can, and do, party all night and well into the next day, and i still look pretty good.
am i looking forward to turning 40? not so much.
rss Cool

I dread the birthday where I'm old and feeble and unable to enjoy it.

(lol, poet13)

I never dread birthdays. I spend the day doing something I love with friends. Cake, ice cream, presents - what's not to love? You're going to get older whether or not you like your birthdays, so might as well enjoy 'em.

#20 was a little hard to take, but then I was young and stupid. #28 was a problem because I couldn't pretend to be in my early 20's anymore. Slowly, I got progressively less stupid as the years went by. Do you remember how annoying sophomores are, compared to freshmen? People in their 20's are much like that. Very much like that. Compared to people who are 15, they are wise, but that is only a relative thing. I would venture to say a dork in their 30's is more interesting than any 20 year old.

I can't say I'm looking forward to #60, but the alternative is even less desirable. [For those slow on the up-take: 'the alternative = dropping dead]

I ignore them. Just another day. I appreciate every day I get up for. Every day has its own possibilities and rewards. Every day there is something interesting to do.
