Yea, a year ago, my Toshiba A10-s167 started doing that horrible high pitched grinding noise and it would crash. I would re-install windows, it would crash again for a total of 6 times. Then it was impossible to do anything so I installed a new hard disk bought at a Circuit City in the states and it worked like a new computer again.

The deal with this is the Toshiba notebooks often run hot and the hard disk is near the fan/cpu area and wears it out prematurly. Expect to have over heating problems, if you have not yet. "Warning, a cooling system failure has been detected, please service immediately"
Seems like they made these computers to do this when they are 2 years old.

So after much experimenting I think I finally figured out the problem. I downloaded a new Torrent program last week and I think that was the problem because the harddrive only started overloading recently. I removed it from my computer and it hasn't crashed or made crazy noises since. I'm pretty relieved to say the least. Plus, I was able to back up all my stuff in case of future problems.

Thanks for your help. This computer crash and burn story has a happy ending!

Maybe no downloading for me for a while...
